Refurbishing the pump room's covered walkway
The covered walkway of the pump room was thoroughly refurbished in 2012 and 2013. The walls and ceiling of the covered walkway made from terracotta, sandstone and marble elements were cleaned and refastened. Furthermore, the 14 large legend pictures were restored. The project cost about €600,000.
Renovating the cloakroom area
In 2012, enclosures were built for the cloakrooms in the entrance hall in accordance with current fire safety regulations; these facilities were also given a new look in the course of the construction work. The old and rather impractical cloakroom stands were replaced with new models to make work much easier for the cloakroom staff. The lighting is now also friendlier.
New seating for the Weinbrennersaal
Although the old green-and-white theatre-style seating still looked attractive, the chairs were not particularly comfortable to sit on; furthermore, they couldn't be stacked, thus practically ruling out any flexible seating arrangements in the Weinbrennersaal. After searching intensively for a suitable solution, the decision was finally taken in favour of comfortable chairs covered with dark red fabric. Concert audiences since December 2013 have enjoyed the improved comfort; furthermore, at long last the magnificent Weinbrennersaal can now be increasingly used for congresses and festive occasions.
The new conservatory
In 2014, the Kurhaus Baden-Baden was given a new, attractive function area: between April and October 2014, a new conservatory was built between the Bénazetsaal and the Runder Saal according to plans that had already been drawn up during the redesign of the Bénazetsaal in 2011. The project cost about €1.6 million.
